Aikido, a non-competitive martial art, uses one's own internal
energy combined with the opponents attacking energy to blend, redirect,
and take control of the situation. AI-KI-DO is a combination of three words. AI (eye)
means to harmonize. KI (key) refers to the development and use of
your internal energy. DO (dough) has the same meaning as the chinese
word TAO or DAO, a PATH or WAY of learning and living.
Aikido of Sacramento offers a safe, fun and challenging atmosphere for classical Aikido practice. Aikido of Sacramento's curriculum emphasizes building a strong foundation of basic movement, rolling and falling techniques,
"center-to-center" contact, fluidity, sensitivity and personal growth. Beginning students start slowly and move progressively forward , step-by-step, at each individual's pace.
Students of all ages and abilities will benefit by developing
body movement and awareness, coordination, balance and flexibility. Other benefits
include the discipline of Martial Arts philosophy and the improvement
of one's life through "centering".
